Sagicor Motivational Session at the Mount Nelson

Sagicor Motivational Session at the Mount Nelson

Mount Nelson Ballroom

Ultra was asked to supply a sound and video solution for a motivational morning session for a group of  Sagicor banking group employees at the Mount Nelson, in Cape Town on a retreat.

Speakers:

The conference consisted of a flag ceremony and a performance by a local school choir, and two motivational addresses, first by the charismatic and inspiring Jamaican born Jeffrey Azan.

Mr. Azan was followed by Vusi Thembekwayo, widely regarded as one of the most influential young Africans of contemporary times.

Vusi is often called by global business leaders and media to comment on various issues including business development policy and macro-economic development frameworks, social cohesion and modern economic systems.

Both speakers gave incredibly humorous, engaging, insightful and dynamic talks, presenting on a 3.9mm pitch LED screen, outfitted with Shure Axient digital beltpacks and Shure mx153 headsets.

Tech:

I also used 2 x Sennheiser MZH 3040 gooseneck microphones with ME34 heads I had started them in a High mic - Low mic configuration but ended up changing it to a Left-Right situation because we had two speakers announcing the Flag Ceremony.

Audio was controlled via the Midas M32r, and audio was deployed through an Electrovoice sound rig, with 2 x ETX 15s serving as the main PA and the Everse 8 battery powered speakers serving as perfect delay speakers.

Using the built-in bluetooth connectivity and the EV Quicksmart app, I was quickly able to dial in delay times and system eq on the Everse, all from a phone app.

As I mentioned, all wireless was Shure Axient, we had provided 4 x handhelds and 4x headsets as per the clients request, but only ended up using two of each, but it never hurts to have backups.

The Shure Axient AD4 receivers (and the battery charger) were all connected via network so that I could monitor signal strength and battery life on the Wireless Workbench application, as well as do a quick frequency scan to see if there was any offending wireless transmission in the Axient operating range.
